Mike Schugt’s love for hospitality started way back at 15 when he was washing dishes at a local restaurant. From that first job, he fell for the fast pace, the energy, and—most of all—the people. After studying hospitality management at Penn State, he dove headfirst into the luxury hotel world, climbing the ranks from front desk to global sales teams, and eventually starting his own consulting business, Leading North, and led Teneo Hospitality Group as the company’s president. But here’s the thing: Mike’s not just about building success for hoteliers and meeting planners. His true passion? Creating opportunities for those who often get overlooked. That’s why he founded INNclusivity—a nonprofit on a mission to provide meaningful jobs to adults with special needs in the hotel industry. Since its launch in 2023, INNclusivity has partnered with hotels to offer immersive, behind-the-scenes experiences, helping these incredible individuals gain confidence, develop skills, and secure real employment. For Mike, it’s not just about jobs—it’s about opening doors and showing the world that everyone has something incredible to offer and deserves the chance to shine!
